What:

Performing opportunities will provide people an opportunity to self express and share their work with a larger audience. This often takes form as open mic events


What will happen:

Everyone can introduce themselves

Everyone will play a small ice breaker game

Everyone will be able to share some of their work with people

Video will be shared with Surrey Art Council, and CloseLook productions

Receive a certificate recognizing your efforts




Writers of various skill levels and interests(activism,current events,social issues, short stories/poems) looking for opportunities for development, self expression, and recognition


When:

Fourth Wednesday of the month at 7pm


Why:

Self expression: People will be able to express themselves on a larger platform

People will also receive a certificate of appreciation and will have a video of them performing potentially on the Surrey Art Council and CloseLook productions, our social media and other organizations.




Open mic:


Description:

Open Mic Events provide a platform for people to self express, and share their work to a larger audience. People are usually provided 10 minutes to share their work in front of a friendly audience.

Collaboration and support

Your Words Matter To Us Inception : The Writing and Open Mic Event began in June 2019 and has been continuing since. The bi-monthly booklet started in December 2019 Your Words Matter To Us Who are we: Your words Matter To Us is a student-led program that supports people of all various ages in their professional and personal development. We offer monthly writing, and open mic events, and create a bi-monthly magazine called Words Touch Souls. Goal: We wish to foster a community where people can be their most authentic selves. They will able to shed light on their endeavours, topics of passions, political events and global issues. They will be able to promote themselves and their organizations as well. We hope to provide people with: -Education -Self-expression -Community -Recognition -Inspiration -Awareness  Our support -South Surrey Recreation Center -Crescent Choir -Simple generosity -Federation of Bc Writers -Pandora
